Team Beachbody

Jason and I have started a new "journey" with team beach body. Several years ago when Jason got home from his mission, he purchased P90X from beachbody.com and loved it. Since then I have done some of it too, and we even tried a week of insanity that we borrowed from a friend. We haven't really done much working out with beach body programs in the past couple years until now. A few weeks ago Joel McKell (Jason's uncle) wanted to talk to us about beach body and the new "X3" program from beach body that Jason was interested in. Long story short, we loved everything Joel said and decide to try it for ourselves. We even ordered Chalene Johnson's "PiYo" for me. WE LOVE THEM BOTH!!! We are both currently about to start week 4 of our programs and are still going strong, changing our nutrition to eat more healthy and get the right amount of nutrients we need, and have been working on our hydration and drinking more water.

I love beach body! They have everything set up for you to succeed! The only way to fail is if you just completely give up. They lay out nutrition plain and simple for you, super friendly workout programs that can fit into your busy schedule, they don't beat you down-they make you want to work out again the next day, and they provide coaches that are there to support you 100% every step of the way. I am currently looking into becoming a coach for beachbody.com , and am even looking into getting certified as a PiYo instructor!!

Here are some of the things we have been doing and posting about in our support group on Facebook with other beach body patrons.

Healthy foods ,wheat pancakes and fruit, salad, soggy oatmeal, water, protein bars, workouts, etc. Even Keaton works out with us! :) It's a family thing! :)

Green Smoothie Recipes

As I mentioned before we are on a "green smoothie" kick! We have them about 5 times a week! And we have tried some yummy recipes! These are more like a drink than a smoothie, but they definitely help you get in the fruits and veggies that you need and they do taste pretty good! I thought I would share the recipes I have been getting with you! You can find them for yourself if you want on http://simplegreensmoothies.com. :) I love how you can substitute fruits if there are some that you don't like or aren't in season and it still tastes great! As long as you follow the basic formula (Serving 2: 3 cups fruit, 2 cups veggie, 2 cups liquid ) you can create whatever you want! If it comes out too bitter for you, you can always sweeten it with natural sweeteners (ex: honey, banana, mango, etc). I just prep about 10 days worth at one time and put them in freezer bags labeled and just thaw them a few min. prior to blending and wa-la!

10K Bridge Run

Jason ran the annual St. Charles Parish United Way Bridge Run this past Saturday and did amazingly! (We are waiting for official results, but he did AMAZING!). At 6:30 that morning as I was getting ready he brought his race bib over to me and said read this orange tag...it definitely said that he was given a 10k race bib....and he signed up for a 5k. He was going to be running with a friend (David Hall), and was planning on doing the 5k and had been "training" for that (he can wake up and just run 5k's and 10k's...ridiculous!). When we got to the race he went to the tent to see about trading out his bib for a 5k one. They said they wouldn't trade him, but he could just run in with the 5k people if he wanted. He talked to David....short story...he decided to run the 10k!!! Now this is race is run all along the bridge and up and down the over passes! No easy feat! This guy is crazy! But...he did it and I am so proud of him! He ran it in literally double what he would have done his 5k for that terrain and I am impressed that he kept up that same pace, didn't throw up or pass out, and finished strong! GO JASON!!!

And shout out to David for finishing with an amazing time as well and without training! These guys are beasts! ;)

GREEN SMOOTHIES

We have decided to start doing green smoothies! None of us in the Rich household eat enough fruits and veggies! Don't get me wrong...we LOVE fruits and veggies, but 6-8 servings just don't happen. I started looking on pinterest to see what I could find and I found several good blogs, and this AMAZING website! We started a 30 day challenge to have 1 green smoothie a day. Their recipes are for 2 so that is perfect and we each get 1 cup veggies and 1.5 cups of fruit, plus any bonus protein, dairy or anything super food we add to it. They are delicious, inexpensive, and super easy. We bought enough stuff last Friday for two weeks of smoothies and got a head start. :) We are loving them so far and loving that I can just grab a bag out of the freezer, blend it up, and go.

Here is the website you can go to...it is free to sign up for the 30 day challenge and they email you their "crash course", guide, and 5 recipes per week. We love them so far and will keep doing them. Fruits and veggies are so good for you...give you energy, get you regular, and are tasty! :)

Jason also ordered us a weight set (makes me feel right at home like in the Sanderson on campus at MSU) and I have written him an awesome program that he has been so diligent at. I hope he is loving it! He says he is sore and I know I am seeing results in him already. GOOD JOB!!! This week is the last week of his 4 week program #1....he won't know what hit I'm starting Program 2! lol ;)

I have been walking and trying to do work-outs, but baby girl doesn't let me get much working out in before I start having major contractions. She is just going to make me work extra hard to get back in shape after she gets here!

Oh, and of course Keaton gets in his lunges and push-ups and things with daddy...he loves to help coach daddy and to work out with him. I will have to post a video of that ;)
